2022 Summer Institute Participants

The UC Berkeley Interdisciplinary Migration Initiative hosted the Summer Institute in Migration Research Methods (SIMRM) at the University of California, Berkeley campus from July 25-August 2, 2022. The Institute was organized and directed by Irene Bloemraad (UC Berkeley) and Jennifer Van Hook (Pennsylvania State University). Funding from the National Institutes of Health and the Russell Sage Foundation made the institute possible.

Courtney Allen

Courtney Allen is a Ph.D. student in the sociology department at the University of Washington and is interested in the intersection of population health, health systems, migration, and the environment. Previous to returning to graduate school, Courtney worked as a Senior Research Data Analyst with The Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) Program, where she has contributed to and led research projects that have focused on a wide range of population health indicators such as contraceptive use, newborn care practices, and anthropometry data quality. Courtney holds degrees in Demography (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) and Public Health (University of Colorado Denver).
