My lived experience in higher education is what shapes my advising philosophy. As a first-generation, non-traditional transfer student, I have gone through obstacles and challenges during my time in higher education; and throughout that time I have learned many lessons. Through those lessons, I had the support and guidance of an advisor so I could pave my way to achieve academic success. Now that I am in a position where I can advise students, I want to be the disseminator of information and the backbone support like others were for me. In doing so, I encourage a collaborative effort in which we can strategize a game plan so you can achieve academic success. Academic success looks different for everyone
