She spent her early life in Taiwan and China before moving back to the United States, where she gave birth to pursue a college education.

Besides her major in art history, Joyce is interested in diasporic research on Taiwanese culture, which inspired her passion to work with the Berkeley Interdisciplinary Migration Initiative. She has taken the social science curriculum for my UC Berkeley and Pasadena City College elective classes. The proudest project she has done is the Journalism 100 LGBTQ Asian American report, which allowed her to interview local artists and community organizers in the Bay Area. She took a photo of Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as the heading for the paper, which insisted her research proposal on Taiwanese Diaspora.
