Eliza Hollingsworth worked as an Undergraduate Research Fellow for BIMI during the 2019 Summer semester working on writing a policy brief about Immigrants' access to services in the Bay Area. Eliza is a third-year undergraduate student from Oakland, CA with a keen interest in the public health effects of conflict, displacement, and migration. She is pursuing a BA in Global Studies with minors in Public Health and Public Policy, and outside of class, she works part-time as a caseworker at the International Rescue Committee. Jasdeep Singh Hundal

Jasdeep graduated from the Sciences Po Paris- UC Berkeley Dual BA program, where he graduated summa cum laude with BAs in Political Humanities and Sociology, and a minor in Data Science. During college, Jasdeep has interned with Save the Children Jordan, the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a Singapore-Indian EdTech startup. Victoria Huynh

PHD Student of Ethnic Studies

My research interests are in critical refugee studies, Vietnam / Southeast Asia / their diasporas, scholar-activist pedagogies, and abolition feminisms, specifically abolitionist responses to harm. My dissertation centers on Vietnamese refugees within the California carceral system, and looks at abolitionist organizing against incarceration and deportation.

Gabriela Jauregui

Gabriela Jauregui is a fourth-year at UC Berkeley studying Sociology and Political Economy. As the daughter of two immigrant parents, she witnessed and experienced the challenge of obtaining access to services and therefore is interested in immigration to further look into the aspect of access or lack thereof, that immigrants have to non-profit organizations. Luna Kohut is a current third-year student at UC Berkeley double majoring in Global Studies and Sociology. She has a keen interest on understanding the politics of immigration law as well as the cross sections between social justice and migration rights. Hello! My name is Michelle Rivera Lopez, and I am a San Francisco Bay Area native. I am currently a third-year undergraduate student at UC Berkeley, double majoring in Sociology and Ethnic Studies. I am passionate about studying race, ethnicity, and migration. My academic interests arose from being raised by immigrant parents and living in a predominantly low-income immigrant community. After completing my undergraduate degree, I hope to enroll in a J.D. program and become an attorney. I enjoy painting, going on walks with my dog, and spending time with my family in my free time.

Antonia Mardones Marshall

Antonia Mardones Marshall is a Doctoral candidate in the Department of Sociology at UC Berkeley. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Anthropology from the Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia in Mexico, and Master’s degrees in Socio-cultural Anthropology from Columbia University and in Sociology from UC Berkeley. Chelsea Muir

Law Student

Chelsea Muir is a 2L at Berkeley Law. During law school, she has conducted refugee casework for the
International Refugee Assistance Project and volunteered with the ACLU and Innovation Law Lab to
advocate for relief for detained immigrants threatened by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a policy and
communications fellow for the Berkeley Interdisciplinary Migration Initiative, she has conducted
research and written policy briefs on the topic of immigration
